We travel not to see the world, but to understand it.

Invitation to travel

Argonautica is a Georgia-based travel project created for travellers who expect more than a ready-made itinerary.

We combine careful route design, local knowledge and strong storytelling to create journeys that are intelligent, vivid and precise.

Why argonautica exists

Georgia is not a simple country, and we refuse to present it as one.

It is shaped by ancient kingdoms, imperial pressure, mountain communities, wine culture, Orthodox faith, Soviet scars and a fierce sense of identity.

Argonautica was created for travellers who want to see this complexity — not have it simplified into clichés. We visit the monuments, cities, vineyards and landscapes. But we show what stands behind them.

Our travel philosophy

Georgia is not a product.

It is a country of people, history and memory. We do not present Georgia as a postcard or a stage set for tourism. It is a country shaped by ancient kingdoms, mountain communities, wine culture,
Orthodox faith, imperial pressure, Soviet rupture and a strong sense of identity.

This complexity is exactly what makes it fascinating. Travelling with Argonautica means seeing the monuments, landscapes, vineyards and cities — but with the context that makes them come alive. We do not simplify Georgia into clichés. We do not reduce it to folklore prepared for visitors. And we do not design routes as a mechanical sequence of photo stops. We build journeys around knowledge, rhythm and strong narration.

Every place has a reason. Every stop has a function. Every story opens another layer of the country.

Travel with context

A journey should not feel like a list. We design routes that connect the visible with the invisible: a fortress with the invasion it survived, a monastery with the political and spiritual world that
created it, a vineyard with family memory and ritual, a mountain village with the
logic of borderlands.

This does not mean slow travel or passive contemplation. We move. We visit. We see the major places. But we do it with precision —
giving each site the story, timing and explanation that make it worth being there. The result is a journey that feels sharp, vivid and coherent.

People who know the country

The strongest journeys are shaped by people who know what they are talking about.

That is why we work with local guides, historians, hosts, winemakers, artists, craftsmen and families rooted in the regions we visit. They do not appear in the programme as decoration. They bring knowledge, perspective and lived experience. They make Georgia sharper, more concrete
and more alive.

A good conversation can explain a place better than a plaque. A family table can tell you more about Georgia than a staged performance. A winemaker can open centuries of culture through one glass of wine. This is the kind of access we value.

Places with context

We visit Georgia’s great sites — monasteries, fortresses, cave cities, vineyards, mountain roads and old quarters.

But we do not treat them as empty stops on a route. At each place, we give you the story that makes it come alive: the king, the battle, the exile, the wine, the legend, the political decision, the family memory, the empire that passed through.

This is history told with energy, clarity and taste — never as a lecture, never as
a checklist. You see the monument. You understand the moment behind it.

Georgia, seen from the inside

Argonautica did not begin as a tourism product.

It grew out of years of living, working and travelling in Georgia — not only seeing the country, but learning how it thinks, remembers, celebrates and argues with its own past.

Our routes are shaped by real contact with the people who keep this country alive: historians, writers, artists, winemakers, local guides, hosts and families in the regions we visit.

This gives our journeys a different texture. We do not rely on ready-made itineraries or borrowed descriptions. We build routes from lived knowledge, local intelligence and a long curiosity about Georgia’s history, culture and identity.

Not for everyone

Not for travellers looking for a standard mass tour. Not for those who measure a journey by the number of attractions visited. Not for people who want Georgia reduced to folklore, clichés and photo stops.

Argonautica is for travellers who want history, beauty, sharp storytelling and places revealed with intelligence.

Who this is for

For travellers who want to see Georgia properly — not pass through it blindly.
For people who enjoy monuments, landscapes, wine, cities and mountain roads, but want them explained with energy, intelligence and taste.

For those who prefer a sharp story, a good table and a well-built route to a
rushed list of attractions. If you want Georgia served with context, character and excellent narration, this is your kind of journey.

Bespoke kourneys

Journeys built around a sharper way of seeing Georgia Some travellers do not want to choose a ready-made route. They want a journey built around a specific interest, a particular rhythm, a private occasion or a more precise way of seeing Georgia. Our bespoke journeys are created for individuals, families and small private groups who want the structure of a well-designed itinerary — but not the limitations of a standard package.

A route can begin with one of our existing programmes or be designed entirely
from scratch. Wine, history, architecture, photography, mountain regions, family travel, Soviet traces, contemporary culture, monasteries, borderlands, food, artists, writers, private tables, remote roads — the direction depends on what is worth building for you. The result is not a collection of requested stops.
It is a route with logic, timing, narration and a clear point of view.

What makes the difference

We do not do generic sightseeing

You will see the monuments, cities, vineyards and landscapes — but never as
empty stops. Each place comes with the story that makes it matter.

We know how to tell Georgia

History is not a lecture here. It is sharp, vivid and connected to what you see:
kings, invasions, wine, faith, Soviet scars, family memory and the logic of the
Caucasus.

Our routes have a point of view

We do not copy standard itineraries. We build routes with structure, rhythm and intention — so that every day adds something to the picture.

We go beyond the postcard

Georgia is not only mountains, wine and hospitality. We show its complexity:
borderlands, architecture, political memory, forgotten places, regional identities and people who know the country from the inside.

We work for demanding travellers

Private journeys, small groups, precise logistics, strong narration and no masstour atmosphere.

Georgia for the intellectually curious

Curated journeys through the Caucasus for travellers who want more than a beautiful route.

Argonautica is created for curious, demanding travellers — people interested in history, wine, architecture, landscapes, local voices and the stories behind the places. We do not design standard tours. We take Georgia’s monuments, roads, vineyards and mountain towns — and reveal the history, power, beauty and conflict behind them.

How a bespoke journey is created

Tailor-made travel does not happen by accident. It requires conversation, judgement and a clear design process. We build each journey step by step — from the first idea to the final route, from logistics to support on the ground.

1. The starting point

A journey may begin with one of our existing programmes, a specific region, a private interest or a simple instinct: wine, history, mountains, photography, architecture, family travel or the desire to see Georgia differently. Our website is a starting point, not a limitation. Every route can be adapted, expanded or built from scratch.

2. The conversation

Before we design anything, we need to understand who is travelling. We ask about interests, pace, previous travel experience, accommodation preferences, food, wine, mobility, expectations and the level of guidance you want. This is not a questionnaire for the sake of formality. It is how we avoid generic travel.

3. The route design

We then create a proposed route. The order of places matters. The rhythm matters. The balance between monuments, roads, meals, landscapes and conversations matters.
A strong itinerary should not feel like a list. It should feel like a route with logic and momentum.

4. Refinement

You receive an initial proposal, and we refine it together. We adjust the pace, develop ideas, change details and make sure the journey fits the traveller — not the other way around. The best journeys are not copied. They are edited carefully.

5. Logistics

Once the route is approved, we take care of the practical structure: accommodation, transport, local partners, timing, reservations and on-theground coordination. Good logistics should be almost invisible. You notice them because the journey works.

6. Support during the journey

During the trip, we remain available. If something changes, we respond. If a detail needs adjustment, we help. If the road, weather, timing or local situation requires a change, we work with it. Our role is to make the journey feel precise, alive and well held.

Not packages. starting points.

The programmes on this website are not fixed products.

They are curated frameworks — each opening a different way into Georgia: wine, kingdoms, borderlands, photography, family adventure, architecture or the Soviet afterlife.

We can follow them closely, adjust them intelligently or rebuild them from the
ground up. More mountains. More wine. More history. More architecture. A slower family pace. A sharper cultural focus. The route is designed around the traveller — but it never becomes generic.

A journey that stays longer

Bespoke travel is for travellers who know that the standard version is not
enough.

It works best for people with clear interests, high expectations or a desire to see Georgia through a specific lens: wine, history, architecture, photography, family adventure, mountains, art, literature or political memory. It is also for those who do not yet know the exact route — but know the kind of journey they do not want. No generic package. No anonymous group atmosphere. No itinerary built only because “this is what everyone sees”.

Responsible by design

We avoid mass-tour logic because it weakens both the place and the experience. Our journeys are built on small scale, local partnerships and precise logistics: independent guides, family wineries, regional restaurants, carefully chosen stays and people who belong to the places they show. This keeps the journey closer to Georgia itself — economically, culturally and practically.

Responsible travel is not a slogan for us.

It is part of how a good journey should be designed. We avoid mass-tour logic because it weakens both the place and the experience. Instead, we work on a human scale: private journeys, small groups, local guides, independent hotels, family guesthouses, regional restaurants, family wineries, craftsmen, artists and hosts rooted in the places we visit.
This means that more of the money spent during the journey stays close to local communities and real people.

It also changes the quality of the experience. Smaller formats allow better timing, better conversations, more precise logistics and greater respect for the places we enter. We treat Georgia’s mountains, villages, national parks, wine regions and Black Sea coast as living environments — not as scenery to be consumed. Responsibility here is practical: choosing local partners, avoiding unnecessary pressure on places, respecting communities and moving through the country with intelligence.

How we design journeys

A good journey is never accidental.
We begin with a conversation: who is travelling, what they care about, how they like to move, what kind of Georgia they want to meet.

Then we build the route with structure and intention — balancing major sites, strong storytelling, local access, time on the road, meals, landscapes and logistics.

Every journey has to make sense. Not only as a beautiful itinerary, but as a sequence of days that feels sharp, coherent and worth your time. not packages. starting points.

Bring the curiosity. we will build the route.

You may know exactly what you want: wine, mountains, history, architecture, photography, family adventure or the hidden traces of the Soviet past. Or you may simply know that standard Georgia is not enough.

That is where we begin. We design the route, arrange the logistics and give the journey its structure, intelligence and momentum.

Travel with context

We design routes that connect the visible with the invisible: a fortress with the invasion it survived, a monastery with the political and spiritual world that created it, a vineyard with family memory and ritual, a mountain village with the logic of borderlands.

This does not mean slow travel or passive contemplation. We move. We visit. We see the major places. But we do it with precision — giving each site the story, timing and explanation that make it worth being there. The result is a journey that feels sharp, vivid and coherent.
